Sbara Down Full Strength Team WoW

Sbara 9(ish) - 3 Team WoW
(Darling 3)

Team WoW were thoroughly outplayed last night, losing to a venomous Sbara outfit by 6 goals at the Aurora. Team WoW fielded a full strength side for the affair, with the exception of Alex Kidd, who was at the game but did not play for some reason. The two teams had faced each other once before - in the final of the same tournament last year, Team WoW lost that encounter 8 - 1.

Sbara were the first to draw blood. I wasn't there at this point, however, as I was running a couple of minutes late. They also thrashed in the second and third goals of the night, both through star striker Yusuf/Yosef (?) Team WoW saw a glimmer of hope toward the middle of the period. Gale squared the ball to Schaap, who put a neat lob over to Thompson, who volleyed into the bar. Darling cleared up the mess with a stunning left-footed strike into the bottom corner; a team effort. Sbara rounded out the half with a couple more goals: 5ish - 1.

The second half saw a Team WoW side committed to making Sbara work for the win. Riske was at the top of his game in goals, denying some clear opportunities. At the other end, a ravenous Darling was wreaking havoc. He made it 5 - 2 with an absolute ripsnorter which found the bar before the back of the net. Sbara put another away to make it 6, but darling wasn't done. He met a Gale cross with brutal force to complete his hattrick. Sbara went on to score 1 or 2 or 3 more to make it 7 or 8 or 9 -3, respectively.

Post-match analysis revealed that a combination of physical force and taking it way too seriously was the main contributor to Sbara's triumph. Their intimidating style of play, in which they drop their opponents to the floor before screaming in their face is hard for any team to resist. Schaap felt the effects of this strategy, injuring both knees in a brutal incident which was caught on tape and will follow this article.

Team WoW face their last opponents of the regular competition next Sunday. Catch the boys vying for a spot in the final at 5:50 at Aurora.

  1. I have it from a reliable source that a certain T. Parrott and S.Rayment may be available for Sundays big game. I don't know if i'm the only one but that sure brings about some intense memories of the Clare Street Performance of 2010.
