Much anticipation has shrouded the futsal grading period. With four pools and over thirty teams, it was always going to be a difficult job for Dale Itchins and his team at Football Federation Tasmania to achieve balance in this term's competition. Team WoW were fearing the worst with regard to their grading, having won both games whilst maintaining an impressive goal difference of twenty-one. This morning at 11:00am, those fears were confirmed: Team WoW will face the elite of Tasmanian Senior Social futsal in the prestigious "Group Black".
This group includes old rivals the Red Devils, as well as Awesome Futsal Team (against whom Team WoW squandered a five gaol lead to draw 6-6 last season). It also includes a slew of unproven but impressive sounding teams such as "International Talent", "Classic Tumblers", and the dreaded "Eastern Shore". Most frightening of all, however, the group includes Cote D'Ivoire, who will be Team WoW's first opponent. Cote D'Ivoire managed an unprecedented win over Yosef and Mohammed's team, the Alassad Warriors, in the grading period.
Which brings us to the good news:
1. Alassad Warriors have not been drawn in Group Black.
2. Football Federation Tasmania reserve the right to regrade teams if necessary.
3. Team WoW retain their stats (6 points, 21 GD) in Group Black, which gives them a nice head start.
