Team WoW Overrun

Team WoW 2
Ivory Toast 8

(Bryan, Parrott)

Ivory Toast ran rampant in the second half as Team WoW ran out of steam to record an embarrassing loss. Serious questions were directed at the squad for their apparent lack of fitness, as the team repeatedly let the opposition push past the normally sold defense with ease. Rob Schaap made his first appearance for the club in several seasons, while Andy Thompson was again ruled out, and Jordan Scott decided he had 'better things to do with his life than play a stupid futsal game, what is futsal when compared to eternal salvation man?'. (just kidding, he's still sick.)

The match started brightly for the Taroona based club, as Ivory Toast commenced the game with only 4 players. After squandering a golden chance from a Tim Parrott pass, Jonathon Bryan immediately redeemed himself by opening the scoring with a rocket from long range, curling into the top left corner. It seemed too easy for Team WoW as they continued to attack, but missed a number of chances in the subsequent play and were dismayed when the fifth member of Toast d'Ivoire turned up before they could capitalize further. A goal was almost immediately conceded as the opposition found their feet, and only a number of brilliant saves from Rick Nettlefold kept the score even. Chances were had at both ends, but it was Parrott with a moment of brilliance who put the boys in front. The ball came to him on the wing from a counter attack, and he hit it first time into the far corner, rendering the keeper powerless in every way. The lead would not last, however, and the half time whistle blew with the score at 2-2.

An early blow was felt once the second half started, Ivory Toast easily running through the defense. From then, an immense arm wrestle began, as Ivory Toast looked to kill the game off while Team WoW searched for an equaliser. Iain Koolhof came close, and Parrott shot just wide before remarkably hitting both posts - the ball stayed out. Nettlefold was called upon to make stop after stop, until he was finally beaten midway through the half, and from that point the life seemed to drain out of Team WoW as things got nasty. Ivory Toast scored goal after goal in the final 5 minutes, and ended the game as a thrashing, Team WoW going down 8-2.

Note: footage of the first half is shown, since that's where we got our goals!
