Team WoW on Struggle Street

Team WoW 5
Pig Dogz F.C. 7

(Bryan 2, Gale, Koolhof, Parrott)

In another disappointing result for the club, Team WoW gave up a lead to lose for the second successive match. The game marked the return of fan favourite Jordan Scott from illness, though he failed to trouble the scorers on the night.

Iain Koolhof wasted no time in opening the scoring for Team WoW, as Jonathon Bryan set him up to send the keeper the wrong way. Bryan was then on the end of a perfectly weighted chipped through-ball from Tim Parrott, and managed to knock it past the keeper for 2-0. Confidence running high, he was able to push past several opponents, definitely getting a nutmeg in there somewhere I'm pretty sure guys, before notching his second. As the old saying goes though: too much confidence can result in spending too long on the ball in the midfield, getting dispossessed and costing your side a goal, and this is exactly what happened to Bryan to make the score 3-1.

Pig Dogz scored a lot of goals in the second half and generally played better, as Team WoW (most notably Bryan and Scott) struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. The defense was not playing poorly, but a lack of forward pressure afforded Pig Dogz too much time and space. Tim Parrott was playing some inspired passes into dangerous areas, but the chances were squandered and forwards were shut down. At 6-3, the game was looking over until Parrott's shot from halfway caught the keeper off his line. Soon after, Phil Gale's shot (from a Parrott corner) hit the roof of the net at pace, and it was game on

As time ran out, the opposition found themselves with a number of corners, which were rudely hit as hard as possible at the Team WoW boys after a massive run up. Team WoW were able to get one last counter attack, but Bryan failed to capitalise as his pass was intercepted. Pig Dogz scored in the final 10 seconds to seal the game.
