Deportivo take a Lesson in the Team WoW Academy of Ownage

Team WoW 11 - 0 Deportivo La' Bangduck Academy
(Foster 4, Thompson 3, Scott 2, Schaap 2)

Team WoW made it two wins on the trot tonight, walloping Deportivo La' Bangduck Academy with 11 unanswered goals. The term 'ill repair' has become a favorite of this blog, and again it can be applied to the Team WoW side. They were forced to start the game with only four men as Phil Gale and Sol Foster arrived late. Alex Kidd, Iain Koolhof and Wil Darling were all absent for the game for uncited reasons.

Rob Schaap was the first to put the ball in the net, sending his strike into the bottom corner. Sol Foster made it 2 - 0 shortly after with a powerful drive from a tight angle. Next up was Scott; his through ball to Thompson was headed for the keeper's hands but the Canadian's presence appeared to put him off and he ended up getting hopelessly nutmegged. Thompson shielded him to make sure of the goal. Foster then put in his second in almost identical fashion as his first. Scott made it 5 with another scrappy goal, sending the ball into the defender's direction who fired into his own net. Team WoW's 6th was perhaps the goal of the night. A smart lofted ball from Schaap found Thompson who sent it in on the volley. Schaap completed his brace before halftime; finding the end of a squared ball from Scott which Gale selflessly dummied.

The second half saw Team WoW put DLB Academy to the sword, notching up a further 4 goals worth of ownage. The first and second came through Sol Foster who was having a night to remember. Thompson took his personal tally to 2 with a dazzling solo effort and cool finish. He completed his hattrick, and Team WoW's night of goals close to the end with a sublime strike which met Scott's kick-in.

DLB Academy barely put up a fight in the game. They had a handful of close calls but were unlucky at times; striking the post on a number of occasions. Special mention must be made of Riske in goals. He kept up his impressive form with some stunning saves, one of which he produced in response to a Schaap deflection. The Man of the Match, however, went to captain Andy Thompson who lead the team strongly and remarkably played the entire game in a polar fleece. DLB Academy were less than worthy opponents, but what they lacked in physical ability they more than made up for in social retardation. One classic incident saw a player complaining that Thompson was wasting time after he failed to catch the ball Thompson threw to him for the kick-in.

The season is nearing the business end and every point is vital from here on in. Catch the boys in action again next week at 7:30 at Aurora.
